Mr. Vaughn is a native San Diegan and one of Southern California’s foremost business litigation attorneys. He specializes in civil jury trial practice and has been lead counsel in cases involving intellectual property ownership, employment disputes, contracts, negligent and intentional injuries, product liability, professional malpractice, partnership and corporate disagreements, and an extensive array of other business litigation matters. Mr. Vaughn has carved out a niche representing hospitals, medical practices, and other businesses throughout Southern California.
Mr. Topol joined Vaughn and Vaughn in 2015. After growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Bioethics from the University of Virginia in 2006 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2009, where he earned a Certificate in Health Law and served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Business and Technology Law. Mr. Topol has been practicing civil litigation in San Diego since 2010 and has significant experience representing healthcare providers in professional liability matters. He has since expanded his practice to include business and employment litigation. He has represented clients in trial and arbitration, and has briefed numerous cases before the California Courts of Appeal. Mr. Topol is admitted to practice before all Courts of the State of California and the United States District Court for the Southern District of California.
Kathryn Vaughn is an experienced attorney, community advocate, and visionary leader of San Diego. Ms. Vaughn currently serves as the managing partner of Vaughn & Vaughn. An attorney for more than two decades, her family law practice grew into a powerhouse corporate civil litigation partnership. In 1997, Don and Kathryn Vaughn joined forces to form Vaughn & Vaughn, successfully representing local and national clients in complex transactional and litigation matters. Her diverse corporate background, nonprofit leadership, community advocacy and excellent management aptitude make her an outstanding litigation team member.
Monica K. Reitano is a San Diego native who attended San Diego State University and the University of San Diego. Ms. Reitano received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration, with a Minor in Psychology, and was on the Dean’s List. She continued her education by attending the University of San Diego where she received her Paralegal Certification in Civil Litigation with Honors, then began her Paralegal career in 1985. She has worked with Plaintiffs and Defendants in various areas of the law including Business Litigation, Personal Injury Litigation, Employment Litigation and Class Action Multi-District Litigation. She has a keen eye for details, is knowledgeable on procedural requirements, and possesses a strong work ethic. She is a member of the San Diego Paralegal Association and the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and has been a vital team-member of the Vaughn and Vaughn firm since 2010.
